\nSIERRA DE COD\u00c9S<\/span><\/strong>
\nType: ROAD<\/span><\/strong>[\/split_line_heading][vc_column_text]We head towards Alava, crossing Valdega and Berrueza. The western part of Tierra Estella where we are heading to may not be well known but its roads with low volume of vehicles, the landscapes and the orography make this area a very recommendable place for cycling. To get there we must cross the Alava area of Santa Cruz de Campezo, and we also choose to extend the route to Bernedo to climb the mountain pass of the same name.<\/p>\n

It is very easy to avoid it by taking the direct ascent to the Alto de Aguilar shortly after Genevilla (about 15 km less). Once on Navarre soil, we begin a rapid descent to the Torralba crossroads, at which point the next ascent begins, the one that leads us to the Sanctuary of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de Cod\u00e9s. \nTo define the physical difficulty<\/strong> of the routes we have used the IBP index<\/strong>.
\nIBP index is an automatic rating system that scores the physical difficulty of a route ridden on a mountain bike, road bike or gravel bike. This index is very useful to know the degree of physical difficulty of different routes by comparing them with each other.
\nIt is important not to confuse the degree of physical difficulty of a route with the effort it will take to complete it: an IBP index of 60 will be a very hard route for an uninitiated person, normal for someone with average preparation and very easy for a professional.
\nIn our case, we have taken as a reference a normal physical preparation<\/strong> to assess the physical difficulty of the routes.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”45032″ animation=”Fade In” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text]Technical difficulty: EASY<\/strong>
\nFor this section there is no mathematical formula that gives us a number, so the assessment is based on knowledge gained from experience.<\/p>\n

We have defined the technical difficulty in 3 levels<\/strong>:
\n– Green color<\/strong>: simple. There is no notable technical difficulty on the route.
\n– Blue color<\/strong>: medium. We can find areas that present some technical difficulties. In the case of gravel<\/em> routes, these will be areas with steep uphill or downhill slopes on non-compacted soil, sections of trail or soil in poor condition. In the case of MTB routes, they may be uphill or downhill sections of trail with some complicated passages, due to the state of the terrain or because they are natural trails with a very damaged floor. In both cases, these sections represent a small percentage of the total length of the route.
\n– Red color<\/strong>: difficult. In both gravel and MTB we find complicated areas such as those defined in the blue color, but with greater frequency and intensity.

RECOMMENDATIONS<\/h3>\n[\/split_line_heading][vc_column_text]\n

  • The Navarre Campsites Association<\/strong> does not guarantee the maintenance of the routes<\/strong>, so it is possible to encounter obstacles on the routes. However, if this should happen, we would appreciate it if visitors would let us know so that we can take this into account for the future passage of other people.<\/li>\n
  • It is highly recommended to carry the tracks in the GPS<\/strong>. In some remote areas it is easy to become disoriented.<\/li>\n
  • It is essential to carry plenty of water <\/strong>for all routes, especially in summer.<\/li>\n
  • The use of helmets<\/strong> is mandatory.<\/li>\n
  • Practice low-impact driving<\/strong> to avoid erosion.<\/li>\n
  • If you are going out unaccompanied, leave notice of the route<\/strong> you are going to take.<\/li>\n
  • The trails<\/strong> are shared with hikers and horseback riders. Always yield the right of way, these people have priority.<\/li>\n
  • If you find a livestock closure<\/strong>, leave it as you found it after your passage.<\/li>\n
  • Facilitates the passage of livestock<\/strong> on all roads.<\/li>\n
  • Avoid leaving the marked road<\/strong> and accessing private properties.<\/li>\n
  • Respect the environment<\/strong> and do not leave waste<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Avoid shouting and disturbing wildlife<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • If you see a hunting<\/strong> sign, turn around and choose another road.<\/li>\n
  • Respect traffic regulations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Be respectful<\/strong> of people on village crossings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
